Bauhaus Tanzt

November 20, 2018

The performance of the Austrian project Bauhaus Tanzt combines music, dance and visual arts. Staging as part of the AIR GOGOLFEST contemporary art festival.

This project is inspired by the avant-garde futuristic ballet Triadisches Ballett, which was first presented by the famous German artist Oscar Schlemmer in 1922 and became one of the most resonant ballets of its time. In the best Bauhaus tradition, the play is interdisciplinary and combines music, dance and visual arts. The three dancers reflect Oscar Schlemmer’s concept of a triad, and the pianist performs John Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes, sometimes interrupting for improvisation. A feature of Cage’s work is the performance of a composition on a prepared piano.
